Make money by gathering herbs for an alchemist, hunting for meat, stealing or looting. Get your weapons and armor by looting them from vanquished enemies or theft. If you want to play Henry as the son of a villein, don’t follow the main quest line after you wake up at the miller’s house outside Rattay. Put yourself in the position of the people begging in the street. Kingdom Come: Deliverance gives you the opportunity to find out how hard it would be for an ordinary peasant to avenge Henry’s parents. If he wanted these things, he’d have to go out and get them for himself. Had he been the son of a local villein, it’s unlikely any of this would have happened.

He’s recognized by the lord he met earlier which launches a series of quests which will eventually lead him to confront the man who killed his parents. How does Henry’s status as part of the peasant elite make life much easier for him in Kingdom Come: Deliverance? When Henry’s village is destroyed and his parents are killed, he rides to the next town to warn it about what’s going on. As Kingdom Come: Deliverance opens, Henry’s father is finishing an exquisite sword for the local noble, and a key event in the game comes when Henry meets the lord at his father’s smithy. He’s a highly skilled craftsman who’s known to the local nobility for his sword-making skills. Henry’s status is raised further because his father isn’t a run of the mill village blacksmith. He had a clear path toward remaining among the peasant elite. Like most Blacksmith’s sons, Henry was being trained to take on his father’s profession. Blacksmiths were one of the most highly valued craftsman in Feudal society because members of every social class needed the tools, implements, weapons and armor they made. Even though some skilled craftsmen could rightly be called peasants, they were few in number and could be considered privileged relative to the rest of the peasant population.
Henry is the son of a village blacksmith. They couldn’t move without permission from the land holders where they lived and where they wanted to go. If they didn’t like how they were treated by the land holder, it was tough luck for them. They paid the land holder with taxes, a portion of their produce, and labor on the land-holder’s land.
Most were villeins who rented the land they worked from a local land holder (usually a knight or noble). Some were slaves and some were freemen who could move to another location if they wished. Approximately 90% of the population in the Middle Ages were peasants and the vast majority were farm workers. While this may be technically correct, it’s misleading. Kingdom Come: Deliverance has been described as a peasant simulator.
